하와이 프렙 아카데미(HPA)는 9학년에서 12학년 과정 및 대학원생을 위한 남녀공학 학교입니다. 학교의 위치는 매우 아름다운 하와이 섬의 북쪽에 있는 와이 메아의 아름답고 안전한 시골 지역입니다. HPA는 특별한 학습 경험을 쌓은 상태에서 엄격한 학업 프로그램을 받아드릴 의욕적인 학생들을 위한 환경입니다. 세계 생태계의 80%를 차지하는 하와이에서도 학교의 위치 덕분에 학생들은 학교 밖 주변에서도 특별한 수업을 통해 지식을 쌓을 수 수 있습니다. 특히 세계적으로 유명한 바다거북 연구 프로그램을 지원하고 있습니다. 모든 학문 분야에서 1 년 동안 독립적 인 연구를 수행하고 국제적으로 인정받는 에너지 연구소에서 근무하며, 명예 및 AP (Advanced Placement) 수업의 다양한 커리큘럼 중에서 선택이 가능합니다. HPA의 선배들은 다른 고등학생들이 경험하지 못하는 그들만의 특별한 학교 경험을 자랑하며 대학 입학 시 필요한 자격을 높일 수 있습니다. HPA의 많은 졸업생들이 MIT, 스탠포드, 미시간대학, 시카고 대학, 듀크, 존스 홉킨스 대학, UC 버클리, UCLA, 라이스 대학 등 쟁쟁한 아이비리그대학교에 입학했습니다. HPA의 여름학교는 4 주간 11-17세 학생들을 위해 응축된 학업프로그램입니다. 또한 제2 언어로서의 영어, 과학, 수학, 미술, 사진, SAT 준비 과정 등 다양한 수업도 포함되어 있습니다.

Their academic program combines a solid foundation of traditional liberal arts education with student-driven, project-based learning. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, students produce independent work in science, the arts, and many other disciplines. Graduates often end up attending the finest universities around the world. HPA’s international award-winning Energy Lab, which opened in 2010, hosts students engaged in independent research. The lab provides an atmosphere of ingenuity and collaboration, dedicated workspace, and a multitude of tools and technologies to enable projects in any discipline including:

-Advanced computer science, robotics, and drones

-Biotechnology projects using DNA PCR thermocycler and UV transilluminator

-Digital journalism and storytelling

-Electrical and mechanical engineering

-Research partnerships with NASA, the W. M. Keck Observatory, Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, and others.

HPA’s residential life faculty live on-campus and are responsible for creating a warm and welcoming home base. Boarding students live in three residence halls, where they gain independence and are immersed in school life that extends well beyond the classroom. Their island location keeps boarding students busy with a myriad of weekend activities. Life-long friendships are forged at HPA, with 25 nations represented in our boarding population, it is easy to make connections and develop a strong sense of community. In addition to the Energy Lab, HPA offers a large heated pool, Issacs Art Gallery, tennis court with four courts, various water sports, an established after-school athletic program, horseback riding, a world-renowned Sea Turtle Tagging program, and many extracurricular activities where you can get your SCUBA diving certification or star in the fall musical.
